Mashawi Grill, Sepanggar is one of the 100 eateries that is listed in Malaysia Delicious 100 Food 2017-2018

We were here in 2016. We’re here again in 2017 as we felt that it is appropriate to list Mashawi Grill, Sepanggar as one of Malaysia 100 best and Halal eateries, serving great food that comes with amazing service and dining atmosphere. It might not be one luxurious restaurant but it is a place where they serve food that is fit for a King. We said that before;

“There is a jewel that recently transformed into a ‘culinary oasis’ with such an unbelievably delicious middle east cuisine selections that is fit for a king but made affordable for all. It might be the only edible ‘jewel’ in Kota Kinabalu city”-curiostraveller.com

Located in Indah Permai Township, some 16 KM from Kota Kinabalu City, Satay Brunei House specialize in Malay Brunei dishes. Their signature dish is of course Satay as indicated in the eatery’s name. Owned and managed by Mr. AG Shahril AG Ali, this eatery is first to be listed in Malaysia Delicious 100 Halal and Muslim Friendly Food. We went here on Saturday, August 12, 2017 and had a ‘feast’. It was an awesome and unforgettable dining experience, truly one stellar experience!

(Invited Review)

Mentaiko (pallock roe) and Natto (fermented soybeans) are common ingredients in Japanese Cuisine. Its rich flavor goes well with a lot of Japanese cuisine and it is best eaten over hot steamy rice. Chef Kenny, inspired by pallock roe, has come up with his own version of how the ingredient can be best used in Japanese Cuisine by assembling his own special dishes such as Mentaiko Chazuke, Mentaiko Chahan, Mentaiko Maki, each paired with Natto, the perfect companion to complete your dining experience.

(Invited Review) (This Eatery is HALAL CERTIFIED)

We both came here on Friday, August 4, 2017. Although this was the 2nd time we have been to this eatery, this particular Friday BBQ Cookout Buffet Dinner was a first for us. The eatery is better known as Coffee House and is located on level 3M. We came around 6 pm and the buffet was to start at 6.30 pm. Staff were already busy setting up all stations/buffet spread. The BBQ area was quite ‘smoky’ as the whole roasted lamb was nearing its perfection, almost cooked! Chefs were seen barbecuing all types of meats, including Satay! This is our review about Friday BBQ Cookout Buffet Dinner at Soluxe Hotel Kota Kinabalu (formerly known as Narada Hotel)

dreams fulfilled!
To me personally, I had been longing to see two iconic and protected animals in the area and was hoping desperately that I had come at the right time and this was the right season for me to encounter them.  After the sighting of the proboscis monkeys, I managed to tick one of the boxes. Now, how about the second one?  Amazingly, things turned out absolutely wonderful for us as we spotted them further down the river bank — the Borneo pygmy elephants (婆羅州小矮象)!!! Wow!

Going to Sukau along the Kinabatangan River in the east coast of Sabah, North Borneo was one of my two main back-to-the-nature domestic trips for last year.  The first one to Tabin Wildlife Nature Reserve in Lahad Datu materialised in early May 2016 and it was an amazing trip to remember (you can read it here).  However, the trip to Sukau that was initially planned for October had not been so smooth-going.

Some are pretty skeptical about the idea of dining 50 m up in the air. Some are just brave enough. Some are in between while some think it’s once in a lifetime thing to do. Up to this moment, safety issues, worthiness in terms of pricing and what diners gets in the end are the top questions being asked by our readers. We were among the first 44 people in Sabah to go on board this suspended sky platform to fully experience Dinner in The Sky. This review is to give readers precise picture of our experience and perhaps that will help them to be well-prepared before coming to Sutera Harbour Resort.
