Adya Hotel Langkawi is our preferred Hotel in Langkawi

1997 was the year that we last visited Langkawi, Malaysia. 20 years later we had the opportunity to re-visit Langkawi and much to our surprise, Langkawi has changed. There are more Hotels, Resorts and eateries in comparison to what we saw 20 years ago. Perhaps, the curse of Mahsuri was true after all. It was in 1987 that her curse ended and that brought prosperity to this Island. Development is evident in Langkawi and we ‘saw’ that from the balcony of our room in Adya Hotel Langkawi.

The First

Adya in Sanskrit means The First. A coincidence? Perhaps. Adya Hotel Langkawi is the first Shariah-Compliant in Langkawi Island. This Hotel is the first that we stayed in Langkawi after a period of 20 years. It is also the first Hotel in Langkawi to have two swimming pools, one of them is exclusively for ladies and the other, the common pool. What else? Currently, Adya Hotel Langkawi is in TripAdvisor first position from dozens hotels in Kuah Town, Langkawi. Not to mention their Bubble lifts, a feature that excites the kids, well, even grown-ups.

We regard our experience staying at this Hotel as the best one we have ever had in Langkawi. It surpassed the experience that we had in 1997, in a luxury resort at Pantai Cenang. The experience at Adya Hotel Langkawi went beyond our expectation. Although there are ultra-luxurious resorts in Langkawi itself, we truly believe that Adya is the best of the best.

It is a 4 Star Hotel but for its location, product, service and ambiance, this hotel has all that guests need during their stay in Langkawi. Location is probably the winning factor as it is strategically located in Kuah Town, middle-point of every single places in Langkawi Island. To the west are the Airport and Pantai Cenang. All major roads are connected to Kuah Town. The last thing we need when staying in Langkawi is finding ourselves far away from a major town.

About

Inspired by Moroccan architecture, Adya Hotel Langkawi is proud with its unique characteristics and features of elegance glass exteriors with the touch of contemporary Malaysia culture. Opened its door in 2015 and on the same year, the Hotel was awarded The Best 4 Star Accommodation in Langkawi during LITA (Langkawi International Tourism Awards).

Parallel to its slogan of ‘Islamic, Friendly and Hospitality’, the hotel recently won The Best 4 Star Hotel in Asia Halal Brand Award. As the hotel is located at Kuah Town, it gives easy access for guests to reach their desired places. Langkawi Parade Mall, banks and restaurants are in within walking distance from the hotel while Langkawi’s Ferry Terminal and Langkawi Fair Shopping Mall is just 5 minutes’ drive.

Arrival

Prior coming to Langkawi, we arranged an airport transfer from the Airport to Adya Hotel Langkawi. Guests may skip all the chaotic scenes at the airport by having someone from the Hotel to meet and greet at the Arrival Hall. Fee applies but it’s worth paying for that. Zamri greeted us at the Arrival Hall and he led us to a waiting area where a van was waiting.

Greeting us at the Main Entrance were three cheerful staff of Adya Hotel Langkawi. Smiling genuinely, they welcomed us and took care all of our bags, including the smaller ones. Yes, they were very determined not to let us carry anything, giving us a relief, so to say.

While we’re checking-in, we couldn’t help noticing how alert the doormen were to any incoming guests. The way they greeted guests truly amazed us as it was done genuinely and properly. All staff at Adya Hotel Langkawi will greet guests  “Assalamualaikum“, a common greeting among Muslims that literally means ‘Peace be with you’.

Checking-in was way easy, done in record time by two beautiful and friendly receptionist. We were offered delicious Welcome Drinks. In less than 2 minutes, we were given our key card and were escorted all the way to our room by Mr. Maga who gave detailed explanation of the features in our room.

Our Room

Our room was 1108 which means we’re on the 11th floor. Facing partially the sea and Kuah Town, the view is indeed magnificent. Our room comes with comfortable Twin Bed and we’re indeed satisfied with everything inside the room. What we loved most is the balcony, a place where we’re able to breathe fresh air and enjoying the view of Kuah Town.

@Lan was extremely happy to see the large and well-designed working desk. He is very particular about working desks, be it at home or hotels as he just love to have all his gadgets and books being arranged as neatly as possible. Ample work space is his priority. The work desk has adequate power points which is pretty useful feature for both of us.

The room’s lighting; perfect for us and it can be wholly adjusted using the panel on the bedside table. We love the room’s color scheme, the carpeted floor as well as the natural light that comes in from the opening to the balcony.

Just before the sliding door that opens up to the balcony, on the left side of our room is the reading corner with comfortable sofa to sit on. I spent most of my time before bed, reading while having my hot coffee here while @Lan obviously conquered the work desk.

Between the work desk and wardrobe is the bar area with additional storage or rather shelves for smaller items. On the top shelve are the Holy Quran and Yasin meant for Muslim Guests use, followed by 2 complimentary bottled/drinking water, replenished daily. On the bar is tea and coffee making facilities with additional storage below it followed by a smaller fridge inside the bigger compartment below.

Bathroom is located on the left of the hallway that leads to the door. On the right is the wardrobe that is spacious. Inside are the Iron and board, safety box, storage for clothes, Sejadah or Prayer Mat. We have to say that we’re pretty pleased with the size of this room with plenty storage area. There’s even a space to put all our bags, be it big or small.

The bathroom is of descent size, with shower. Bathtub is only available in suite rooms. Toiletries are of Adya’s brand and neatly arranged at the side of the deep sink.

Suite Room

On the 3rd day of our stay, we were given the golden opportunity to have an exclusive tour to one of the lavish suites on the top floor of the Hotel. Do note that, while some suites are occasionally being released for common guests use, a number of suites are permanently reserved for Royals, Ministers and Invited VVIPs. Thanks to Puan Ila Jamilah Abdullah, Guest Service Manager, we are able to show to you one of the suites, namely Pendang Suite 1205.

Our Thoughts

Adya Hotel has all that guests need while staying in Langkawi. The location is perfect as it is accessible to any points in the Island and the Hotel itself is in within walking distance to the town center. Room rates are reasonable, affordable by all. Service, excellent as Adya’s staff are well-trained.

We stayed here for 3 nights and we felt like being at home and not in a hotel. It shows how much we’re comfortable staying in this hotel. We had 2 amazing dinner sessions and we did not miss any of its breakfast session as the food served at Jelapang restaurant are well-known for its taste and presentation.

The 2 dinner sessions that we had were Steamboat Dinner and the other one was selection from the ala-carte menu. We felt that it is appropriate to publish separate entries in regard to our dining experience. We will be publishing separate post for the breakfast session as well for one good reason; the Chef bakes croissants every morning, at the dining hall.

We look forward to visit Adya Hotel Langkawi in the near future and explore more of its uniqueness. We were made to understand that there will be another Adya Hotel at Pantai Cenang very soon and we are planning to visit it too! The brand has another hotel in Kuala Lumpur, located near to Masjid India. The hotel is of budget category and we will be visiting it after Penang.

We have no doubt at all in recommending this Adya Hotel Langkawi to future visitors. Adya Hotel Langkawi is without any doubt, the best hotel in Langkawi in terms of location, product, service and ambiance.
