Thought of the day-” To become successful and outstanding at something, we don’t have to come up with something new; we need only find ways of doing it better.”- Earl Nightingale
Weeks ago, we read about Alif Satar opening up a new Cafe in Kota Kinabalu. We did discuss about the possibility of visiting. We did not go, until recently. We searched high and low for some information about A’S Cafe. With minimum information, we contacted Mukhriz (the Manager) and told him that we’re coming. We’re about to visit a cafe that we know very little about. We initially did not have any expectation or even ably to imagine the outcome. Nothing. We went and this is how we saw and experienced things at A’S Cafe.

It’s a long stretch, that route we saw from above, from Papar town to Tuaran Town. In the middle is Kota Kinabalu City. This particular route is about 88 KM long with so many amazing eateries here and there. There is no list whatsoever, a complete and updated one that pin point exact location of Halal and Muslim Friendly eateries located along that long stretch. It’s making Muslim Visitors having to google for information and will always end up with something outdated, a list of 10-12 eateries. That was it. The writer don’t even bother to verify by visiting and dining, giving a clearer picture. This is our initiative. Creating that list which will be updated yearly. A project that we named as Halal/Muslim Friendly/Healthy Food Trek for 2017-2018..

Some say it’s a cafe with unfinished design. Some say it’s a hipster cafe. We say, it’s a cafe with Industrial Design, purposely left unfinished on some parts, implying a big statement, a significant impact and trademark readily for viewing to those passing by. Alluring that is, as if it’s a call for people to come in and check out what’s inside. That is definitely genius and smart. Welcome to Haus Cafe, one burgeoning cafe in Kota Kinabalu City, we must say. The concept is different. While other cafes tend to outshine competitors, Haus look at things differently. Being humble that is. The owner intend to create that community feels by ensuring that the cafe is fit for people of all ages and background. It ain’t only for the avid coffee hunters and young career people (as you can see in many other cafes), the door opens for everyone.

Serving 220 food items to delight guests taste buds, Victoria’s Brasserie @ Dorsett Grand Labuan claimed to have the Longest Sungkai Buffet in Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan. We both traveled all the way to Labuan from Kota Kinabalu just to be able to break fast here and see for ourselves if the Sungkai Buffet is really ‘Long’ enough as suggested by the name/theme in the Dorsett Grand Promotional Banner. For most people, this post might be a bit too late to be published as Ramadhan month is over. It’s Syawal Month now. However, this write-up has one long run objective. This write-up will enable future guests in 2017 to compare the products(foods) offered in 2016.
