Thought of the day-” To become successful and outstanding at something, we don’t have to come up with something new; we need only find ways of doing it better.”- Earl Nightingale

Weeks ago, we read about Alif Satar opening up a new Cafe in Kota Kinabalu. We did discuss about the possibility of visiting. We did not go, until recently. We searched high and low for some information about A’S Cafe. With minimum information, we contacted Mukhriz (the Manager) and told him that we’re coming. We’re about to visit a cafe that we know very little about. We initially did not have any expectation or even ably to imagine the outcome. Nothing. We went and this is how we saw and experienced things at A’S Cafe.

Haus Cafe @ Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

The Front Entrance

Some say it’s a cafe with unfinished design. Some say it’s a hipster cafe. We say, it’s a cafe with Industrial Design, purposely left unfinished on some parts, implying a big statement, a significant impact and trademark readily for viewing to those passing by. Alluring that is, as if it’s a call for people to come in and check out what’s inside. That is definitely genius and smart. Welcome to Haus Cafe, one burgeoning cafe in Kota Kinabalu City, we must say. The concept is different. While other cafes tend to outshine competitors, Haus look at things differently. Being humble that is. The owner intend to create that community feels by ensuring that the cafe is fit for people of all ages and background. It ain’t only for the avid coffee hunters and young career people (as you can see in many other cafes), the door opens for everyone.

Serving 220 food items to delight guests taste buds, Victoria’s Brasserie @ Dorsett Grand Labuan claimed to have the Longest Sungkai Buffet in Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan. We both traveled all the way to Labuan from Kota Kinabalu just to be able to break fast here and see for ourselves if the Sungkai Buffet is really ‘Long’ enough as suggested by the name/theme in the Dorsett Grand Promotional Banner. For most people, this post might be a bit too late to be published as Ramadhan month is over. It’s Syawal Month now. However, this write-up has one long run objective. This write-up will enable future guests in 2017 to compare the products(foods) offered in 2016.

Beef and Chicken Satay (Sate)

Satay (Sate) is grilled meat dish famous throughout Southeast-Asia. Indonesia is thought to be the true birthplace of satay, but the dish was carried to surrounding countries including Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. The most popular is chicken or beef satay. Both of us are Satay fans so recently we went to the Brunei Satay House III and tasted the Satay. Apart from Satay, we ordered some sides from the menu and I must say we were a bit greedy during that visit. Do we like the Satay, sides and level of service at this restaurant? Do keep reading to know more about our findings during that visit.

Nasi Lemak Garage Kafe with Fried Marinated Chicken

We found out about this Cafe yesterday through Instagram feed and we felt that it’s necessary to see for ourselves the uniqueness of this place. This cafe is relatively new and just started operation few days ago. Owned and managed by husband and wife team along with dedicated employees, this cafe offers Fusion, Western and Malaysian cuisine. The concept is similar to the Garage Cafe(s) that can be found elsewhere outside Sabah. The owner said that the concept will be applied gradually to give a new spin to the abundant hipster cafe(s) around Kota Kinabalu. Read to the end to find out details of this cafe and our rating for the quality of services and products offered during our visit.
