Discover the best of Kota Kinabalu Marriot Hotel through its Kitchen@8’s Weekend Lunch Buffet. Expect to see and consume delectable dishes which are meticulously prepared by their skillful chefs. Think of generous and resplendent buffet servings at an affordable price. That is what Kitchen@8 is up to; fulfilling the highest expectation of discerning diners in Kota Kinabalu city.
Located on the 8th floor, Kitchen@8 recently re-launched their Weekend Lunch Buffet. Held on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays from 12.00 PM to 4.00 PM, buffet fans will be served with better food options; in terms of total dishes, taste and presentation. Priced at RM80 nett per adult and RM40 nett for children, this Weekend Lunch Buffet is one of the most affordable offered by hotels in the city.
Start at your preferred station but we reckon you reap the best from the newly introduced à la minute station where foods are prepared and cooked right away, the minute you place your order. While the chefs are busy cooking your preferred dish, choose something from their extensive dim sum servings. It’s buffet; have as much as you desire.
“You may want to start by asking the chef to cook for you their famous, well-known and delish Butter Prawn” said Zhamir Faris, the hotel’s Marketing Communications Manager. And so did we. It was the wisest decision as not only the dish was tasty, people literally formed beeline at this particular station; in the name of that heavenly delicious creamy Butter Prawn.
If lining-up is too much for you, skip the à la minute station and come back later. You have 4 hours anyway. Head to the station where mains are served. Though dishes are rotated weekly, quality is prioritized. During our visit, diners were served with Tempura, Lamb Stew, Mashed Potato, Sambal Sotong, Spaghetti Carbonara; just to name a few.
If Satay is your thing, fret not as endless skewers will be there for you, be it Chicken or Beef Satay complete with condiments such as Nasi Himpit and cucumber. Pour generous spoonful of that Peanut Sauce or Kuah Kacang onto your satay; again, it’s buffet.
Chicken Rice station await its fans with choices of Nasi Ayam or Nasi Lemak. Have both if you want to and ask for generous sliced roasted chicken. Be amazed with its texture and taste. Those born with tendency for spicy taste, dig in and have spoonfuls of that Sambal Nasi Lemak!
There is also a station that serves grilled lamb and seafood of many kinds. Mind you, this is also a station with beeline or you get to see none (because you blinked) but the foods that are served on banana leaf, will be quickly ’emptied’ by other diners. Don’t blink; line up religiously and worry not, the chef will refill pretty much as fast as the diners grabbing the foods. Just don’t blink.
Salad lovers will be impressed with Kitchen@8’s variety, from Duck with Pomelo Salad to Glass Noodle Salad as well as their fresh and crunchy Garden Salad. Have some of their delectable Assorted Sushi and Assorted Sandwich or bits of Assorted Cheese. The choice is yours and you may actually be seeing different items on the starters station as options are rotated weekly.
Finish off or literally start with a full assortment of sweet delights from Cheese Cake to Crème brûlée. The choice is yours. Variety of beverages are available from fruit punch to Teh Tarik Cinnamon.
Come this weekend, be part of that beeline at Kitchen@8 and eat as much as you are able to. The Weekend Buffet Lunch is worth trying mainly for its delicious foods and affordable price. Kitchen@8 offers spectacular view of the sea and nearby Islands which will make you stay longer than what your plan says.
