Caring For People Through The Game Of Golf

It’s another triumphal year for the annually held Hyatt Regency Kinabalu Classic as the Golf Game was successfully held on Saturday, 9 March 2019 at Dalit Bay Golf and Country Club. The Awards and Auction Night was held later in the evening at Kimanis Ballroom, Hyatt Regency Kinabalu. Tagging its noble theme; Caring For People Through The Game of Golf, the event managed to raised RM43,300 which will be donated to PACOS Trust and the Hyatt Thrive Project.

Addressing the Golfers and Non-Golfers attending the Awards and Auction Night, Thor Gervasi (General Manager of Hyatt Regency Kinabalu) said there were 120 golfers joined the 2019 edition. He added that this year event aimed to raise fund for Sabah’s First Glass Recycling Project initiated by Partners of Community Organisations in Sabah (PACOS) Trust.

Earlier on January 23, 2019, Hyatt Regency Kinabalu donated RM15,000 to PACOS Trust to fund the Glass Recycling Project. Fast forward to March 2019, it was through this event that more fund will be channeled to further escalate the success of the Glass Recycling Project. The project aims to get local communities engaged in a project to find solution on ways to manage waste by upcycling glass waste and turn it into items which can provide income for rural communities.

The event started with the anticipated Lucky Draw sessions where more than 50 lucky winners walked away with attractive prizes by Hyatt Regency Kinabalu and their sponsors. The event continued with Charity Fundraising Auctions in which Amy Dangin acted as the Bid Caller.

There were originally 16 items being auctioned but the hotel’s General Manager, Thor Gervasi added the 17th item which was the Exclusive Usage of the Brand New Hyatt Mobile Kitchen for Private Event by Hyatt Regency Kinabalu. The market value for this item was RM4000. Items in the auction were sponsored by Hyatt Regency Kinabalu, Silk Air-Singapore Airlines, Grand Hyatt, MASwings, Hyatt House, Royal Brunei, Park Hyatt, Hyatt Place, Hyatt Regency, Andaz and Jeju Air.

With a different format in 2019, The Hyatt Regency Kinabalu Classic acknowledged 8 Top Winners where each of them received attractive prizes courtesy of Hyatt Regency Kinabalu and their generous sponsors.
