Pancake House International Kota Kinabalu (Jalan Pantai outlet) is one of the 100 eateries that is listed in Malaysia Delicious 100 Food 2017-2018
Another great culinary adventure, this time around it’s at Pancake House International Kota Kinabalu. There are two outlets of this brand in Kota Kinabalu city. The newest outlet is at Jalan Pantai and the other one is at Karamnunsing Shopping Complex. We chose to come to the outlet at Jalan Pantai.
We came in quite big group, 8 adults and 2 kids. It’s almost 3pm and we came and we were definitely hungry. We were kind of having a ‘feast’ here as altogether there were many dishes and drinks that we had. The food and beverages that we had here were absolutely tasty and well-presented. The overall experience? I must say that it was incredibly outstanding. Simply put, stellar.
Food & Beverages
As mentioned earlier, we had a ‘feast’ here and below are all the food/dishes and drinks that our group had. We kind of sharing bits of every dish so each of us had the opportunity to taste each dish.
Fiesta Taco Salad– Roasted chicken bits, kidney beans, mixed greens and grated cheddar cheese with special dressing, all served on a giant Taco! We love this dish so much as we were able to taste all kind of textures and flavors. The dressing was amazingly delicious.
Beef Tapa– We shared bits of every elements on the plate and everyone seems to like it, to a point that some of us are still craving to have this dish. Beef Tapa is one of Filipino favorites. This dish is about specially marinated tender beef strips pan-fried short of crunchy, served with garlic or plain rice (We had the first), fried egg and Mango Salsa. We highly recommend this dish to all meat-lovers! Absolutely yum!
Almondigas Soup– Looks simple but it has complex taste and texture. Another yum dish that is described as a hearty delectable broth of rice noodles with beef balls and spring onions. The beef balls were amazingly tender and tasty. The broth was exceptionally fine, clear and one bowl is sure not to be sufficient for lovers of soup-based dish.
Grilled Salmon– This dish is about Atlantic Salmon flavored with herbs and creamy curry sauce served with choice of buttered-corn (we had this option) or buttered rice and fresh green salad. The fish was cooked perfectly to our liking and the sauce went well with all other elements on the plate. Buttered corn was yum and the green salad, crunchy and fresh.
House Specials Set– Neo had this dish and he absolutely love it, especially the Taco. This set is about delicious mix of specialties of the house: Taco, Spaghetti with meat sauce and garlic bread, 1 piece of Fried Chicken and Iced Lemon Tea. According to Neo, the Taco was the best element on the plate as it was so tasty, for there’s generous grated cheese on it. Here were the moments of him eating that Taco!
I believe, he’s still craving for that Taco.
Lamb Chop– Another yum dish highly recommended for Lamb Chop fans as Pancake House International definitely has the best version in the city, especially the sauce! It’s Lamb Chop Shoulder with chunky crinkle fries and fresh salad. Generous portion I say!
Gambero- This dish is served with choice of Spaghetti (We had this) or Linguine, specially made for shrimp lovers. The elements: pasta, shrimp and tomato sauce seasoned with garlic, oregano, basil and Parmesan cheese. Nazwa love this dish so much!
Classic Country Medley– This dish has 2 pieces of classic pancakes with country sausages and choices of Milano specialty hot drinks (Cappuccino, Latte or Mochaccino). Olee had most of this dish and he spared just a little for sharing! Well, we can’t blame him as this dish was outstanding in taste. He opted for the Latte.
Since there were 2 kids (nephew, Bam and niece, Yuyu), we opted for the Kids Corner menu for them. Bam had the delicious and alluring Dreamy Choco Lava while Yuyu had her favorite, Spaghetti. Iced Milo cost just RM1 extra for each purchase from the Kids menu.
Children’s Classic– Yuyu love this dish so much as she is a big fan of Spaghetti. Quite a big portion for her but she emptied the plate! This dish is Pancake House International best-selling Spaghetti with meat sauce served with garlic bread.
Pandan Feast– From this option, Key had the Nasi Serai Pandan with Pan Chicken Balado and Ulam while I had Nasi Serai Pandan with House Curry Chicken and Ulam. Both dishes were spectacular in taste and presentation. We will try that third dish (Ikan Balado/Fish) when we visit this brand again. Lime Mojito and Sago Gula Melaka (dessert) were served with each dish.
Nasi Serai Pandan with Pan Chicken Balado and Ulam
Nasi Serai Pandan with House Curry Chicken and Ulam
Delicious dessert, Sago Gula Melaka.
Refreshing, thirst quencher- Lime Mojito
Dreamy Choco Lava– Bam had this yum dessert as he love chocolate so much. This dessert is about a decadent and sinful chocolate concoction, mini chocolate pancakes filled with melted Cadbury dark chocolate and topped with whipped cream and shredded chocolate. What a great dessert!
Golden Brown– Yanie had this and she absolutely love it. We were given small portion by her, for tasting, obviously. She wished she never did that as one serving was not enough for her! This option is about Pancake House International classic and crispy delicious golden brown waffle.
Pandan Kaya Pancake– Local special pancake which is another heavenly delicious option that we had, highly recommended to those who love Pandan Kaya. Layers of it, the pancake I mean, with generous amount of Kaya filling on each layer.
Chocolate Marble– This pancake is about Chocolate Syrup-swirled pancakes for just the right touch of sweetness, perfect for die-hard fans of chocolate pancake such as Tyna.
Caramel Banana Walnut Waffle– Golden waffle with chopped walnuts, banana slices and served with caramel syrup. A waffle at Pancake House International that is not to be missed by everyone! Absolutely yum.
We had different kinds of drinks for each of us: Rootbeer Float, Latte, Green Apple, Lime Mojito, Iced Lemon Tea, Strawberry Milk Shakey, Cucumber with Green Apple, Lime Juice and 2 Iced Milo. Some of the drinks were part of the menu/dish that we had.
Staff were amazing. They’re polite, friendly, informative, attentive and they smiled genuinely. We love how they were very much focused on their tasks, that’s how we see them at Pancake House International Kota Kinabalu (Jalan Pantai). They kept coming to our table to get feedback from us. One thing for sure, they do work sincerely and do things from their heart and soul.
Trendy, immaculate and with vibrant colors, that’s the right way to describe it. It’s trendy as it feels like dining in both retro and modern eatery. Most modern concept oriented eateries highlights this concept in their overall layout, furniture and so on. Interesting combination of green, white, orange with earthy brown panels here and there. There’s even wall that resembling bricks formation. Plenty art decoration here and there.
Every inch of this eatery, entirely immaculate, as we see it. Staff diligently ensured that there’s no unnecessary elements scatter all over. They have the sharpest eyes for micro flaws and will correct things immediately. Lighting, superb and there’s natural light coming in from outside as well, as there are window glass panels at the both sides of main entrance.
We truly enjoyed our moments here. We had great dishes and beverages. We love the dining atmosphere. Though it’s an eatery, we do feel like being at home. It means that we’re pretty much comfortable being here. It was great to had the opportunity to spend time together with family members, dining the best dishes that were cooked with heart and soul.
As Muslims, we have no doubt at all about the food and drinks here. We believe in Pancake House International Kota Kinabalu sincerity in preparing and cooking not only high quality dishes but dishes that are suitable for Muslim diners. Staff made us feel comfortable. They really know how to serve customers and most importantly, they do their job with sincerity.
We highly recommend this eatery to those intending to bring family members, spending quality time and to eat honest food. This eatery is air-conditioned so it’s a great place to escape the heat outside during day time. This eatery is perfect as well for solo or duo diners. Be it for breakfast, brunch, lunch, tea-time or dinner, this eatery is among the best places to go to in Kota Kinabalu city.
For its overall quality, especially in Food and Beverages, curiostraveller.com list this brand (Jalan Pantai outlet) as one of the 100 eateries Nationwide in Malaysia Delicious Food 2017-2018.
