Part 1: Before Warm up session & Flag Off

Welcome to the SH7KRun 2016, the biggest charity run @ Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Sea of people from all walks of life came to the event to support the good cause by Sutera Harbour Resort’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). It is an event to raise funds for the Special Olympics Sabah and Sabah Thalassaemia Society. Held since 2000, this year is the 16th edition. Supporters came as early as 2pm wearing the same T-Shirt, all excited to join in the fun, running for a healthier lifestyle and at the same time contributing, collectively, for the good cause.

The main stage at the Covered Tennis Courts, Sutera Harbour Resort

We both arrived at the Sutera Harbour Covered Tennis Courts at 2pm. Seeing all those excited early birds made us even more curious about what’s going to happen soon. This is the first time that we were officially invited to do some coverage for the event, for curiostraveller.com blog. It was a tremendous effort, a mammoth one, we shall say, to get the best moments through our lenses. We both had to delegate tasks and be at different spots most of the time in order to get the best shot (photos and videos). We managed to complete the task, though not that of professional standard, at least we did our best.

The special guests

We were delighted to see some young participants, some from schools in Kota Kinabalu and even from Kota Belud! They were definitely happy to be able to attend the event, we saw that in their facial expression. Big smile, excited when they were asked to line-up for photo. We dedicate this first section of Part 1 to them and there’s no better way to do that other than lining up the adorable photos of them. Thank you for the lovely smiles!

The Crowd and Runners

While waiting for the Fitness Warm up programme by Yumiko Katakura @ Covered Tennis Court to start, the crowd cum the runners were scattered here and there. Some of them were indeed seriously thinking of their running strategy while some looked more relax. It was fun to go around and have them in our picture hunting. Here are some of the moments that we managed to capture through our lenses.

The Generous Sponsors: 100 Plus & Vico

We all love these two stations that generously offered non stop refreshing drinks to all attending the event. People were happily lining up to get unlimited supplies and the offer started even before the flag off. Thank you so much 100 Plus and Vico, awesome business organizations!

The Stalls @ Covered Tennis Court

There were some stalls erected at the Covered Tennis Court offering various things to people from food & drinks, coupons, brand awareness to body care products. We (in fact all) enjoyed ‘touring’ around and captured the moments, the happy and beautiful faces of those manning the stalls. Here are the photos.

    1. Hi Susan, there were not that many serious runners actually, all of them leading the other groups which happen to move in slower pace, those faster runners managed to grouped themselves thus eliminating any big risk, and they reached the finish line in record time. But thank you for the concern, I am sure more safety measures will be applied in 2017..the roads were closed anyway and police plus all related officials were here and there to attend to any issues.
