It was a wonderful experience helping @kulafoods Australia in carrying out 2 of their projects in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. I am still amazed how a simple hashtag# in my Instagram account led to a bigger thing, bringing @kulafoods closer to their objective(s) in #kulasafari, the journey to the secret jungle, in search of healthy and traditional food. On February 24, 2016, @amongstmany, (Ms Ting) the CEO of @kulafoods asked me one simple question,

“what’s a good place to eat in Kota? I’m filming a documentary there on 23 March”.

Being a true Sabahan, I answered the question and gave her some options and suggestions. That led to some lengthy discussions in DM and emails. Views exchanged, opinions given and links provided. I linked her organization to YB Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun, The Sabah Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment. YB Datuk then referred us to Sabah Tourism. In the end, @kulafoods linked to Ms Cassie and Mr Dan Darby, the Sabah Tourism officers, in charge for the Australian/New Zealand Market. There were some emails and discussions between them and few days later, @kulafoods managed to line up their activities in Sabah.

Another series of DMs and emails between me and @kulafoods and the first thing that we discussed in length was the foodies meet up. Many options discussed, the venues and attendees and so on. The second thing was the cooking demo. Both of these events will be reviewed in separate entries. March 23 2016 came and so did the @kulafoods. It was exciting to know how Ms Ting started the journey from Sydney, transiting in Singapore before continued the last leg to Kinabalu. Another member of the team, Ms. Pam arrived in Kinabalu earlier for some awesome diving activities and scaling the new path of Mount Kinabalu. 2 thumbs up Ms.Pam. So proud of you to being able to accomplished 2 extreme activities in record time.

The day Ms Ting arrived, the cooking demo scheduled to be held in the evening. I bet she must be very tired. I arranged for her to be fetched by a friend, Mr. Philippy and on they went to Ms Arlinsia residence. Ms Arlinsia was the host for the cooking demo. (This will be covered in a separate entry in this blog). Both me and @joehairie came later, in time for the demo. Lucky us!!!. The demo was a success and both Ting and Pam were delighted to tasted the Traditional Food prepared by Arlinsia and her team members. Yummy Yam!!!, thank you Arlinsia.

The next day, March 24. 2016, the Interview session with YB Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun went smoothly at the Club Floor of The Le Meridien Hotel Kota Kinabalu. It was interesting to see the making of Teh Tarik, a new version and taste by YB Datuk himself. That beverage named as Teh Tarik Masidi Manjun. Awesome!!. Right after the interview session, the foodies meet up held at the ‘Table of Curiosity’ (This meet up will be posted in separate entry in this blog). Both session were interesting and fun of course. Lunch were prepared by Chef Stimol Rondi and all traditional food served were absolutely delicious and presented nicely. Foodies exchanged views and opinions and @kulafoods gave some mementos to each foodie. Thank you @kulafoods.

The next activities were the visit to Eco Farm Kota Kinabalu and Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort. Unfortunately, I was rushing back to my work so I did not join the activities. Philipy, Arlinsia and Duncan accompanied the @kulafoods team to both venues. @kulafoods went to Sandakan on the next day until March 28. 2016 before returning to Sydney the next day (Do follow @kulafoods in their Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat to know more about their trip to Sandakan). Overall, it was an interesting project to be involved in and I learnt so much especially from the foodies meet up activity. On behalf of @kulafoods I thank you all people who were involved in this project (Listed below-do correct me if I left out anyone). You guys-awesome and very helpful.
