For Urbanscapes

Tiffin Throwdown is back, and it’s all about the hottest Hawaiian trend in town: poke bowls! Urbanscapes is pitting the city’s best poke bowl vendors against one another, and attendees get to be the judge on which poke bowl they think is best. That’s not all – vendors will also need to win the hearts (and stomachs) of our panel of judges: Cecilia Yong, Ili Sulaiman,JayDee Lok, and Jeremy Teo; the winners of Judges’ Prize and Public’s Choice will walk away with RM3,000 respectively. Thought of the day-“My definition of a good hotel is a place I’d stay at.”-Robert De Niro

Lounging, even for a while @Skybar on the 33rd Floor of Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur, was indeed one great moment, having that breathtaking view of KLCC Twin Tower. We can do this every single day, we said to ourselves! Being frequent travelers and miles chaser(s), we have accumulated enough points in the Golden Circle Membership Program (Link), enabling us to redeem free nights at any Shangri-La’s, Jen and Traders Hotel worldwide. We’re curious about what’s inside Traders Hotel, Kuala Lumpur and so we came in as their guests, staying for 2 nights ; one room for each of us.

Rasa Utara is well-known for its mouth-watering dishes of Northern Malaysia and we both still can’t forget how great the dishes that we had in previous visit (November 2016). We were in Kuala Lumpur again recently and decided to indulge in more Rasa Utara’s delicacies, this time around we came with a guest from that came all the way from United States, John Eliakim (Kim). This was the second visit for Kim, he’d been to one of Rasa Utara branch in 2014. He was delighted when we invited him to come along. There are 3 Rasa Utara restaurants, each located in Mid Valley Megamall, Berjaya Times Square and IOI City Mall, Putrajaya. For this particular visit, we chose Rasa Utara at Mid Valley Megamall.

Traditional Nasi Lemak cooking workshop is coming to Green Tomato Café. Nasi Lemak is a traditional Malaysian breakfast that means “rice in coconut cream”. Nowadays, Nasi Lemak sambal evolved through time as Malaysians added some ingredients like prawns, chicken, beef, squid, and clam to make it more interesting and edgy from their competitors.

Rediscovering Makan Time

“Food is our common ground, a universal experience.”-James Beard

Our culinary journey continues at Rasa Utara, Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur. We were here for the first time in 2015 and we do keep coming back for more. Recently, we were in Kuala Lumpur and we knew that we must fulfill our cravings for authentic Northern Malaysian cuisine. And so we did. This time around we had so many great dishes, in one go. Greedy? Yes and no. We live in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and it is not every day that we get to go to Kuala Lumpur. We are unfortunate to not have Rasa Utara branch in our own city. Having the opportunity to dine at Rasa Utara is one golden moment for us. Why? We believe in the brand’s ability to serve the best authentic Northern Malaysian delicacies. We are fully aware that this is the only brand through its 3 restaurants, ably to to satisfy our cravings for Northern Malaysian Cuisine.

Uppercase at Sentral @ Metro Hotel Rooftop, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur

Not long ago, we were at the Brickfields area to meet a friend. We reached the corner of the MyHotel@Sentral (opposite Old Town White Coffee) and we saw this decent size Metro Hotel. Right on the rooftop, we saw some fence or partition like and we became quite curious (typical us). Our need to know more about that rooftop increased by every second so in we went to do some queries at the front desk of the Metro Hotel. They told us that there is a cafe cum bar on that said rooftop. So, off we go to the 6th floor and start looking for an entrance into that cafe/bar.
