Sakana Oroshi Set @ Nagisa, Hyatt Regency Kinabalu

Honestly, we are not into Japanese Cuisine. We actually rarely dine at any Japanese restaurant. We are not that familiar with the ‘protocols’ of eating foods from the Land of The Rising Sun. In both our minds, all that we can think of is Tempura. Our destiny and palate keep changing though. 2 days ago, we had this opportunity to dine at the award winning Nagisa Restaurant, Hyatt Regency Kinabalu. There’s this recently launched menu named as Sakana Oroshi Set, creatively prepared and presented by Chef Kenny Liew You Khen. In total, there are three different sets to choose from. We tried all three. Were we satisfied with the taste and presentation of all three Sakana Oroshi set? Did that menu change our mind and worldview towards Japanese Cuisine? Read further to find out…

We’re not only amazed by the overall concept of the foods and restaurant’s atmosphere but we’re having this unexplained thoughts about homecoming. 14 years ago, we had the same buffet meals here during Ramadhan and now we’re back again. Cleverly designed as a high end cafe that belongs to the famous Hyatt brand, The Mosaic @ Hyatt Regency Kinabalu offer their customers an unforgettable amazing colorful and delicious all day dessert that includes 14 flavors of homemade ice cream. Oh did I mention sensational Belgian Waffles topped with ice cream? To add to that already appetizing desserts, the Mosaic offers some healthy option such as sandwiches and salad. Mosaic is a stylish sidewalk cafe located on the street level of Hyatt Regency Kinabalu thus offering the perfect spot to people-watch on the busy street. It is kinda sitting and slurping your bevy at a Parisian Cafe (lol!) while looking at the passers-by (or they actually looking at you?).
