“The Best Tradition Are the Ones That Bring Families Together.’-Hyatt Regency Kinabalu
Stepping into the Lobby of Hyatt Regency Kinabalu was indeed an excitement as we saw some newly installed Chinese New Year decorations here and there. In less than 30 days we saw two sets of decorations, the previous was during Christmas month, the second being the current decorations for Chinese New Year. That many pink plum blossoms kind of implicating the meaning of courage and hope as in Chinese belief with regard to Chinese New year celebration. We’re here to see what Hyatt Regency Kinabalu through its dedicated teams from many departments, is planning for the coming Chinese New Year. Apart from that said decorations, Hyatt Regency Kinabalu unveils its alluring Chinese New Year buffet, Prosperity Yee Sang Platter and Peking Duck.

“Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.’-Calvin Coolidge
This festive season, let Hyatt Regency Kinabalu ignite the spirit of sharing and giving with joyful celebrations as we usher in the New Year. Hyatt Regency Kinabalu unveiled its eco-friendly Christmas 2016 theme during the Christmas lighting ceremony last night. Guests arriving at the hotel will be fascinated by a collection of unique driftwood Christmas trees and decorations filling the spaces from the car porch at the entrance, atrium lounge and throughout the hotel. A warm Cranberry Cinnamon scent greets the guests upon entering the hotel carrying them away into the joyous Christmas spirit.

We went (and still do) to Tanjung Ria Kitchen at Hyatt Regency Kinabalu quite often now. We saw many good things and captured that moments through our lenses. The images turned out to be something uniquely different, something beautiful and full of colors, at least for the two of us. Allow us to share the Colors of Tanjung Ria Kitchen at Hyatt Regency Kinabalu, a gallery full of colorful foods presented on buffet counters as well as the beautiful people from behind the scenes. We had dinner (À la carte) here as well and will be sharing the images in this entry. To those who have never been to Hyatt Regency Kinabalu, this is a gallery for you to understand and admire the surrounding and happenings at Tanjung Ria Kitchen.

The poolside at Hyatt Regency Kinabalu is said to be the perfect place to chill out, swim and casual lounging, sipping that refreshing beverages from the poolside bar. From our room, the view of the pool is certainly mesmerizing, it made us having that urge to come down and spend the late afternoon there. Some say the view of the dotted islands from the poolside is way much interesting. The staffs told us that lounging at the poolside bar is the best thing to do, ‘order that favorite bevvy of yours’, they said adding that inviting remarks of ‘simply enjoy the moment.’ Being curios and curious, we came down to have that moment.

Located on the lobby level at Hyatt Regency Kinabalu, Nagisa is an award winning Japanese Restaurant serving the best Japanese Cuisine in the entire state of Sabah. Nagisa is recognized as the Best Restaurant in Hotel Category during Kota Kinabalu Food Fest in 2012. In 2014 and 2015, the Editors and Readers of Malaysia Tatler have acclaimed Nagisa as one of Malaysia’s Best Restaurants for its exceptional cuisine and service. We went here recently and tried Sakana Oroshi set and we love that dish (Here is the LINK to the review). We came again, this time around to see if the Yasashii Bento set is really worth trying.

Singing with all her heart and soul, together with Sam (Pianist), Debbie ensured that the audience were pleased with the harmonious masterpiece by Allahyarham Tan Sri P Ramlee, titled as Getaran Jiwa (Soul Vibrations). They performed some other slow numbers as well but their version of Getaran Jiwa was the best that we have ever heard. We spent some time on Friday Evening at The Lounge, Hyatt Regency Kinabalu. We were entertained with that angel voice of Debbie, as well as amazing sound from that Piano played by Sam.

22 years ago, I was somewhere in Penang for my tertiary education and heard many good things about Shenanigan’s Fun Pub @ Hyatt Regency Kinabalu. In the early 2000’s, I was here along with some close friends, which include @joehairie, my current Chief Editor. In 2016, we both came again, this time around to witness the Shenanigan’s 22nd Anniversary thereafter the Grand Finale of Miss Shenanigan’s 2016. Who would’ve thought that such brand as Shenanigan’s ably to survive that long 22 years? All big names started to exist in the same year as Shenanigan’s have long ‘gone’. This one stays and will do for many years to come.

It’s still early. There’s this event that we need to attend at 7pm, the 22nd anniversary of Shenanigan’s Fun Pub. It’s 5 pm so we decided to spend some time at the elegant and stylish Regency Club Lounge, Hyatt Regency Kinabalu. We’ve been upgraded, so we had this access to the lounge. When it’s 5 pm, guests come here for the Evening Cocktails and hors d’oeuvre. Perfect timing to view the sunset as well! The Regency Club Lounge is on the 13th floor, so up we went, crossing fingers, hoping to get the best seats as our main intention was to view that magnificent sunset.

We were mesmerized by that breathtaking view of the South China Sea, with Islands that formed Tunku Abdul Rahman Parks, as the background. A postcard view, we must say it, seen through that big window in room 0535 at Hyatt Regency Kinabalu. We stood there, admiring the view, almost forgetting that we actually need to be somewhere else. It’s kind of being glued there, as if we do not want to do anything else other than being there looking at that picturesque view. This is one of the many Sea View Twin room available in this 5 star Hyatt Regency Kinabalu.
