Thought of the day-“My definition of a good hotel is a place I’d stay at.”-Robert De Niro

Lounging, even for a while @Skybar on the 33rd Floor of Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur, was indeed one great moment, having that breathtaking view of KLCC Twin Tower. We can do this every single day, we said to ourselves! Being frequent travelers and miles chaser(s), we have accumulated enough points in the Golden Circle Membership Program (Link), enabling us to redeem free nights at any Shangri-La’s, Jen and Traders Hotel worldwide. We’re curious about what’s inside Traders Hotel, Kuala Lumpur and so we came in as their guests, staying for 2 nights ; one room for each of us.

“The sea is dangerous and its storms terrible, but these obstacles have never been sufficient reason to remain ashore..unlike the mediocre, intrepid spirits seeks victory over those things that seem impossible…it is with an iron will that they embark on the most daring of all endeavors..to meet the shadow feature without fear and conquer the unknown.”-Ferdinand Magellan

Such a great quote by Ferdinand Magellan. A quote that inspired us to be a bit different when we write-up our experiences. Each new place gives us different thoughts and ideas, broader perspectives though at times challenging and seem impossible, we still proceed the journey which in the end enabling us to write-up the experiences. Same as Magellan, we have no fear in conquering the unknown. It was at the Magellan Club Lounge that we were once again inspired by the same quote. The uniqueness of this lounge at Magellan Sutera Resort-Sutera Harbour Resort, inspired us as well. The wooden ceiling resembles  the cabin of olden days ships, as if we’re sailing while lounging here. We might be imagining things but at least there’s a foundation to that. By far, this is the best club lounge (of hotels/resorts) in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

“Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing.”-Camille Pissarro

We had the chance to stay at The Magellan Sutera Resort, Sutera Harbour Resort recently. The resort is uniquely different from other resorts that we have been to. Some say, the difference is due to its unique architecture that is pretty much inspired by the Rungus longhouses of Borneo. For the two of us, this resort gave us that tranquility of the sea that we’ve witnessed from our own balcony. We felt so relaxed here. This is truly great resort in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. We love our room so much that we dedicate this entry alone to review the room that we stayed in for 1 night. A short stay but we both saw many beautiful things in this mammoth resort that always stay humble. We really mean that.

“Life is like a Piano…What you get out of it depends on how you play it.’-Albert Einstein

After that great dinner at Silk Garden, we headed to the Lobby Lounge at The Pacific Sutera Hotel, Sutera Harbour Resort (Kota Kinabalu, Sabah). Our intention was to relax while enjoying the evening snack at Lobby Lounge. A staff told us that soon Asif Pishori will be presenting his skills, performing some great music through his magical fingers. We decided to wait and witness this particular performance and see if Asif Pishori ably to entertain us. Then the man came, smiling, got himself comfortably seated next to the grand baby piano. The moment his fingers were on that keyboard, everyone stop talking. That soothing music, at times melancholic and then joyful, pretty much gave us that relaxation feel. Who is this guy? How come we never heard about him? Where did he came from? More questions asked, simply because we were mesmerized by that soothing music played by a mysterious man.

“Tea to the English is really a picnic indoors.”-Alice Walker

Picnic indoors? Perhaps. We both agreed. The view outside seen from the Lobby Lounge is definitely breathtaking. Green and at times there were birds. We saw that through that ceiling to floor window panels. We had English Tea here, sipping our selected hot beverages, eating that good finger food and it was definitely an awesome experience, as if we’re having picnic on the garden at The Pacific Sutera Hotel, Sutera Harbour Resort. This is another great dining option that we recommend to you if you come to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

The poolside at Hyatt Regency Kinabalu is said to be the perfect place to chill out, swim and casual lounging, sipping that refreshing beverages from the poolside bar. From our room, the view of the pool is certainly mesmerizing, it made us having that urge to come down and spend the late afternoon there. Some say the view of the dotted islands from the poolside is way much interesting. The staffs told us that lounging at the poolside bar is the best thing to do, ‘order that favorite bevvy of yours’, they said adding that inviting remarks of ‘simply enjoy the moment.’ Being curios and curious, we came down to have that moment.

Singing with all her heart and soul, together with Sam (Pianist), Debbie ensured that the audience were pleased with the harmonious masterpiece by Allahyarham Tan Sri P Ramlee, titled as Getaran Jiwa (Soul Vibrations). They performed some other slow numbers as well but their version of Getaran Jiwa was the best that we have ever heard. We spent some time on Friday Evening at The Lounge, Hyatt Regency Kinabalu. We were entertained with that angel voice of Debbie, as well as amazing sound from that Piano played by Sam.

22 years ago, I was somewhere in Penang for my tertiary education and heard many good things about Shenanigan’s Fun Pub @ Hyatt Regency Kinabalu. In the early 2000’s, I was here along with some close friends, which include @joehairie, my current Chief Editor. In 2016, we both came again, this time around to witness the Shenanigan’s 22nd Anniversary thereafter the Grand Finale of Miss Shenanigan’s 2016. Who would’ve thought that such brand as Shenanigan’s ably to survive that long 22 years? All big names started to exist in the same year as Shenanigan’s have long ‘gone’. This one stays and will do for many years to come.

We were mesmerized by that breathtaking view of the South China Sea, with Islands that formed Tunku Abdul Rahman Parks, as the background. A postcard view, we must say it, seen through that big window in room 0535 at Hyatt Regency Kinabalu. We stood there, admiring the view, almost forgetting that we actually need to be somewhere else. It’s kind of being glued there, as if we do not want to do anything else other than being there looking at that picturesque view.
