Members of the media were recently feted with signature food and drinks from the recently launched Rockafellers Kitchen + Bar Malaysia’s and WOW (an acronym for Whiskey ‘or’ Whites) at the glitzy and glamourous Sky Avenue, Genting Highlands.
Fashioned by renowned F&B restaurateurs, the Olive Tree Group, the two outlets, Rockafellers Kitchen + Bar and WOW are distinctly different from one other but share the same sophistication and immaculate service the group is famous for.
Seared Pepper Rare Tuna, Tandoori Chicken Crostini, Dahi Puri, Mushroom Vol Eu Vont
Located at the Asian Bar Street, the experience began with mouth watering starters such as mushroom vole eu vont, seared pepper rare tuna, tandoori chicken crostini and daru puree.

Mint crusted grill lamb rack served with cous-cous, sautéed spinach & harissa
Slipper lobster spaghetti in pomodoro sauce
With tastebuds galvanized from the delightful selection of starters, the main courses were introduced. Comprising of a delicious of crispy skin seabass served with seafood risotto and mango salsa, mint crusted grill lamb rack served with cous-cous, sautéed spinach & harissa and slipper lobster spaghetti in Pomodoro sauce, the Olive Tree Group pulled out all the stops to satisfy.

The Olive Tree Group are also an authority when it comes to Indian food. Delicious minced mutton stuffed with aloo bojpuri, paneer tikka lababdar and tandoori whole chicken leg with tikka masala accompanied by a choice of rice or naan were an option for those with a hankering for something spicier.

Accompanied with music by the band EXPLICIT LO and DJ TWOBA, dinner was topped off with the classic chocolate brownie for dessert.
Managing Director, Leslie Gomez said, “As veterans of the fine dining industry, we have taken our passion for food to create a new gastronomic destination.
“We have also taken into account the cool weather and the scenic beauty of the mists covering the trees and buildings around Genting Highlands and designed our spaces to provide an unrivalled experience for our guests,” he added.
Olive Tree Group has been around for 15 years and currently operates 16 outlets throughout Malaysia and South East Asia. Their passion for good food and even better service has brought international acclaim for the group that has become a home brand for both locals and expatriates in Malaysia.
Both outlets are open from 11.00am to 3.00am everyday.
About Rockafellers Kitchen + Bar
A fulfilment of the Gods of Sports Bars’ commandment to create a sports bar ‘kaw’, Rockafellers is practically a jock strap and protective cup. Tackling the décor and ambience ball from the typical ‘sports concept bar’ – and running with it off the pitch – Rockafellers (an ironic moniker reflecting the outlet’s ‘rock’ music orientation, and its sworn duty to provide the best live entertainment) is sports incarnate. Cinema screen-sized LED TVs, perpetually throbbing with sporting action, peer intensely from every conceivable angle; while remaining, exposed surfaces wear the ‘kit’ of blonde wood panelling, which are instantly evocative of gymnasium dry saunas (where many a towel has slapped a post-game exposed bottom). Fleet-footed staff weave athletically between scatterings of deep-brown tables and high chairs, while random sports and bro-centric paraphernalia pose triumphantly on the walls.
The outlet as a whole is a stadium for a squad of regularly-organised activities, including nightly live performances of original material by up-and-coming local bands, DJ-helmed raves (a mirrored disco ball hangs sardonically near the stage), hard-core pool competitions, trivia and board game meets, and a kaleidoscope of theme nights with a bounty of special drink promotions. The only giveaway of Rockafeller’s double identity as a fine dining establishment is its demurely sophisticated gourmet restaurant-inspired spot lighting scheme, and the volume of the piped-in 90s soft rock music, which is low enough to allow for conversation without the need for screaming as if you were passing a stone.
Barflies not keen on hoity-toity dining affairs will be chuffed to know that etiquette-optional finger food is complementary with all beer orders; while refined, gourmands will be rapturous (in a restrained, elegant way) to learn that Rockafeller’s dining menu is as fine as they come. Featuring a stunning beauty pageant parade of epicurean North Indian, European, and Fusion cuisines running the gourmet gamut of appetizers, soups, starters, main courses and desserts, the ‘gastropub’s gastronomic choices are designed to make foodies weep.
