Thought of the day-“My definition of a good hotel is a place I’d stay at.”-Robert De Niro

Lounging, even for a while @Skybar on the 33rd Floor of Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur, was indeed one great moment, having that breathtaking view of KLCC Twin Tower. We can do this every single day, we said to ourselves! Being frequent travelers and miles chaser(s), we have accumulated enough points in the Golden Circle Membership Program (Link), enabling us to redeem free nights at any Shangri-La’s, Jen and Traders Hotel worldwide. We’re curious about what’s inside Traders Hotel, Kuala Lumpur and so we came in as their guests, staying for 2 nights ; one room for each of us.

Covered Pedestrian Walkway to Bukit Bintang area from KL Convention Center (Easy access from Traders Hotel KL)

Strategically located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur City Center (KLCC), this luxury 4 Star Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur by Shangri-La is one of the great hotels in the surrounding area that gives its guests the best view of  Petronas Twin Towers, KLCC Park and the city’s skyline. Guests will have easy access to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center that  is connected with the covered pedestrian walkway leading to Bukit Bintang Shopping district.

The buggy service

Exclusively for the Hotel’s guests, there is scheduled and complimentary buggy service to Suria KLCC Shopping Mall. With 571 rooms and suites, this hotel offers free WI-Fi throughout its premises and equipped with 24-Hour business service as well as 24-Hour Health Club. During our stay, we did not engage in many of their offerings and services, as we intend to ‘invest’ our precious points for the rooms and some quick lunch at On The Go which is located on the Ground Floor.

Our Rooms

Deluxe Room for @Lan

There was an offer of about 25% off from the required 2,000 points per night for Standard Room so we took that opportunity, spending 6000 points for 2 Deluxe Rooms (2 Nights). Getting the 2 rooms was not that difficult. We’ve just arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport and we contacted the Golden Circle Call center to book 2 standard rooms at Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur. After validating our details, the super efficient officer at the Golden Circle Center immediately search for availability in their system and in less than 2 minutes, he gave positive response, 2 rooms will be waiting for us! Awesome!

Deluxe Garden View Room for me, @Joehairie

Since both our rooms are pretty much the same in terms of size and layout, we will be reviewing only my room which is the Deluxe Garden View. Located on the 12th Floor, the room is about 32 square meters or 344 square feet and has panoramic view of KLCC with spacious bathroom that comes with separate shower cubicle. Check-In was amazingly fast and efficient, leaving our luggage at the concierge on the ground floor and afterwards head to 5th floor, showing our passports plus Digital Cards and we were immediately given our key cards, all in less than 10 minutes. Upon being in the room for about 2 minutes, the concierge arrived with our luggage!

Love the view!

KLCC Twin Towers in the evening, viewed from room 1229

The view from my room, spectacular, as I get to see the KLCC Twin Towers in full. I kept admiring the view, even late in the evening! I must say that during the evening, KLCC Twin Towers is beautiful, simply put; magnificent! @Lan was in a Deluxe room with part of the towers visible to him, so he kept coming to my room, enjoying coffee, kept quite; sitting on that large wooden board next to the window, admiring the Twin Towers view. I bet he will be booking for a room in much higher category  next time, perhaps the Deluxe Twin Tower View Room!

Executive working desk

I love the full-size executive working desk as it comes with reasonable number of power outlets, helped me a lot to re-charge my mobile and camera(s) and at the same time doing work on my laptop. The Flatscreen LED Television is with satellite/cable while minibar is positioned under the working desk. @Lan’s room came with the same size of executive working desk. The only difference, the view. He kept blaming himself for 2 straight days for not being particular in choosing his room!

That lazy sofa chair…

To be honest, I envied @Lan’s room as he got one comfy sofas for himself while I  only had one lazy sofa chair for myself. He had both, this one and another long one that seats 3 people! I wonder if all Deluxe Garden View rooms have the same one single lazy sofa chair. It’s kind of a bit hassle if friends coming over visiting, there’s no place to sit down, except the bed which I intend to have it for myself! Friends did come and we had to assemble at @Lan’s room for he had the sofa(s). So much for the view, he said to me…

Toiletries

The bathroom is large and luxurious (my personal opinion) as it has separate large shower and large bath tub with clever lighting plus large mirror! It’s a bathroom for God sake but amazingly immaculate, absolutely clean, be it on the walls, floor, tub, everywhere. The basin or sink’s countertop glows, bright enough to create that luxury feel. There’s generous supply of premium toiletries and grooming kit, if that’s not enough, one can always ask for more from the Housekeeping.

Part of the wardrobe

There’s full size wardrobe with lots of space for storage. There are electronic safe, umbrella, iron/ironing board, hangers, extra pillows, bathrobes and many more things as you may find in branded hotels. There are drawers to put your smaller things, if you must. Overall, I’m pretty much satisfied with the storage, it’s great in size, more than I needed.

Green Apples and bottled water are being supplied to rooms on daily basis by the housekeeper. The Evian comes with a price but there are also complimentary bottled water being given to guests. The Housekeeper was pretty thoughtful as he left a note and a lollipop on the bed after cleaning the room on the second day. We both left him some thank you note as well!

Though we did not visit and have meals at Gobo Chit Chat or Gobo Upstairs, we did order from the room service menu and we utilized our Golden Circle Points, that saved us some money and we’re pretty amazed by the way the room service staff handled the points deduction, he did not ask too many questions, he simply asked for permission to see our Digital Cards, jotted down the number, that’s all. It’s the same at On The Go, no questions asked, all they need was our Digital Cards. How easy things were for us at Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur!

Our Thoughts

Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay at Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur and we look forward to stay at this hotel again in the near future. Using our advantage as members of Golden Circle members, we did not pay even a cent during our stay. We used our points to pay for everything, from the room to meals (room service/On The Go). We’re extremely pleased about how staffs at Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur ably to immediately acknowledged us as Golden Circle members, no questions asked.

Staffs were amazingly polite, friendly, helpful, informative and even the security guards were very friendly. Check-out was super fast as the efficient staff at the counter only asked us if we have consume anything from the minibar. We said no and gave the key cards to him. He thanked us for staying with Traders Hotel KL and in 5 minutes time we’re on our way to the airport. Thanks to Golden Circle Program, we felt extremely comfortable staying at this hotel, and best of all, free of charge.

Since we still have some points left in our accounts, we are pretty sure to invest that precious points to redeem for more free nights at Traders Hotel whenever we are in Kuala Lumpur. It’s worth enrolling in Golden Circle by Shangri-La, in fact the generous 10 points to 1 US Dollar helps members to accumulate points faster by staying and even dining. There are many ways to accumulate points in Golden Circle membership, becoming a member is free and most importantly redeeming is one simple process. No headaches.

Last but not least, thank you so much Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur for having us and treating us fairly and kindly. Looking forward to be visiting again, soon.
