After a year of hard work, studies, group projects, hands on training and grooming a selected group of individuals, Four Points by Sheraton Sandakan has proudly produced the second batch of Career Track employees for 2015/2016. Being selected for this program which is carried out throughout the world in this chain of hotels, a group of 18 associates were selected through recommendation and interviews. Following which, through the entire year, these ‘students’ who were from Entry and Supervisory levels were groomed with the assistance of personalized mentors and the support of their direct managers.

Certificates and graduation bouquets with a Career Track lapel pin were presented to all graduates. Heads of Department were all present with the hotel’s General Manager, Peter Padman (whose impersonation was that of a Vice Chancellor). In his speech, where Peter praised the teamwork and positive spirit of all the graduates, he added that in his current age of half a century, he himself was still learning as there was no end to training. He added that education was not that degree or certificate that you received but it was the attitude, behavior, personality and putting it all into action that matters.

The Best Student Award was given to Maslia Muin from the Houseekeping Department. She was mentored by Food & Beverage Manager, Mr. Gordon Aaron Ng. Maslia was an inspiration to all as at her age and being a mother of 5 children, she was very motivated to complete the program and that age was no barrier. Parents and families were present at this tea party with happy photo taking sessions to celebrate their successful journey. November also marks the beginning of the third batch of Career Track 2016/2017 who was also welcomed at the ceremony.
