“Tea to the English is really a picnic indoors.”-Alice Walker

Picnic indoors? Perhaps. We both agreed. The view outside seen from the Lobby Lounge is definitely breathtaking. Green and at times there were birds. We saw that through that ceiling to floor window panels. We had English Tea here, sipping our selected hot beverages, eating that good finger food and it was definitely an awesome experience, as if we’re having picnic on the garden at The Pacific Sutera Hotel, Sutera Harbour Resort. This is another great dining option that we recommend to you if you come to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

When we checked-in at this Hotel, we saw one big sculpture of dolphins. This particular sculpture is located in the middle of the Lobby Lounge. We decided that we must come and lounge casually at this place before checking-out and so we did. We were warmly welcomed by 2 beautiful people, the staffs at Lobby Lounge. Theressa and Sharon were another 2 greats staffs that we met at this particular hotel. Smiling genuinely, they offered us to choose our own preferred seating area. Since it’s late afternoon, they suggested that we have the English Tea.

Overall, the Lobby Lounge is definitely a huge area with high ceiling dominated by 4 gigantic pillars. The Dolphins sculpture that we mentioned earlier is painted in black and definitely one gorgeous feature at this lounge as if it’s a gentle reminder to guests that this place is nearer to the sea! While white color dominates the surface of the walls and pillars, the sofas are of darker and brighter colors. A perfect contrast, if we are allowed to say so..

Since it’s tea time, people started to come in gradually to have their afternoon tea, some were lounging casually and some chatting about business over tea. The lounge is immaculate, not even a single unnecessary things on the floor or anywhere else.

Through that large ceiling to floor window, guests will be able to see partly the pool area and the garden. At front is medium size lawn with big vases. Amazing view we must say!

The English Tea

The English Tea is priced at RM 67.60 nett per set and the whole set is for 2 persons! Such a reasonable price. That’s why we strongly recommend you to come to the Lobby Lounge at Pacific Sutera Hotel and order this set.

There were 3 layers of food items on a single tray, properly arranged by Theressa and Sharon. We will be showing each layer that had delicious Scones, Canapes, Macaroons, Cakes and Pastries. According to @joehairie, the Tea was nice. My coffee was strong enough, I prefer it that way, black with minimum sugar. Both beverages went well with all that finger food. Now let’s have a look at each layer on that tray.

Tiramisu and brownie cakes, Macaroons, Grape and Strawberry Tarts.

Scones with cream and jam!

Canapes, amazing savoury food on top each of it!

Later, we were given Tomato and Chili Sauce and we looked at each other. Are we supposed to eat that scones or cakes with that sauce? We were wrong. Theressa later came with one serving of Hot Dim Sum! Our favorite! Now we know what’s that sauces meant for…

Dim Sum! We can’t say no to this! Love it!

Additional Items

At the front of Lobby Lounge, there is this display of beautiful cakes of all kinds. I was really drooling looking at those display and without thinking twice, I ordered 3 slices of cakes. All three slices were so good and of high quality. Here’s what I ordered.

Choc Banana – RM9.80 nett per slice

Opera Cake – RM9.80 nett per slice

Cheese Cake – RM9.80 nett per slice.

Our Thoughts

We truly enjoyed the moment here at Lobby Lounge. The English Tea was definitely worth the price. The tea and coffee were awesome, perfect for the two of us. Amazing finger food on that 3 layers being presented to us by two great staffs, Theresa and Sharon. The ambiance was fantastic, truly a great hall as if we’re in a cathedral! Such a great design this place is with minimum but sufficient decorations inside and out.

The view is something not to be missed. We heard that Asif Pishori, the great pianist is performing tonight and we will be publishing about our experience at this lobby lounge again. That will be in the next entry. The total cost of our afternoon tea was : RM97.00 and that’s pretty reasonable.

Next time if you are in Kota Kinabalu, head to the Lobby Lounge at The Pacific Sutera Hotel, Sutera Harbour Resort. Experience what we both experienced. Indulge in their finest English Tea Serving that comes with a serving of Dim Sum! Surely that’ an elevated type of English Tea, infusing Chinese element into the whole serving.

Try the cakes too! You will not regret, that’s for sure. We guarantee your satisfaction as we both tasted the products here thus we know what we are writing about. Great food, view, service and ambiance.. we don’t know what more to ask for as everything that we needed were offered to us.

Stay tune for our next entry about our experience at this lounge, enjoying the performance by the great pianist Asif Pishori while having some great snacks for supper! We regard our experience at the Lobby Lounge as excellent and will sure to come back for more.
