Parfait 101

Linguistically speaking, Perfect is parfait, in French and so is parfait to perfect! If we must geographically explain the word parfait, well the French regard it as a frozen dessert made from a base of sugar syrup, egg, and cream. The Brits will say parfait as a very smooth meat paste (or pate), usually made from liver (Chicken or duck) and flavoured with liqueurs. The Americans on the other hand regard parfait as traditional French-style dessert. The American parfait is made by layering parfait cream, ice cream, and/or flavored gelatins in a tall, clear glass, and topping the creation with whipped cream, fresh or canned fruit, and/or liqueurs.
