In Grace Park/Grace Square food stalls (Located in Sembulan, Kota Kinabalu), there is this awesome outlet called Zen Kitchen. They serves Malaysian and Indonesian cuisine. We had the chance to try out their options recently. It took us a while to choose from the menu as all of them looks very yummy!!..We end up choosing the Nasi Kukus Ayam Kerisik (Steamed Rice with Chicken and Grated Coconut Sauce as the topping). One for each of us. It comes with some pickles and prawn crackers. Click here to learn more about Kerisik/Grated Coconut). The price for this particular meal is RM10. Cheap yeah?
The rice itself is steamed to perfection. Very fragrant when it’s served. Chicken (Whole Leg) was initially marinated with some spices and later fried. It’s then topped with the Grated Coconut Sauce/Kerisik. That particular sauce really really open up my appetite. It was sweet, sour, a bit spicy and had pieces of grated coconut. A perfect combination to give abundant taste to the fried chicken. Have a small portion of the chicken, with the sauce, mix it with little rice and eat it. That’s the best way to taste the whole set.
Pickles (Carrots, Cucumber and some Chilies) tasted good and sourish. It balance the sweetness and spiciness of the Kerisik. Prawn Crackers are sides and best eaten with the Kerisik. Next time you are in Kota Kinabalu, head on to the Grace Park in Sembulan and look for Zen Kitchen Stall. Believe me, you will take some time to choose from their already good looking pics of meals/options. To Zen’s team, keep up the good work and maintain the quality of your products.
